City Lawyer Ombati Omwanza Sworn in as New Judicial Service Commissioner

City lawyer Ombati Omwanza was yesterday officially sworn in as a member of the Judicial Service Commission representing the Law Society of Kenya.

The oath was administered by Chief Justice Martha Koome at the Supreme Court Building.

Speaking at the forum, Koome who is the chairperson of the JSC promised that the commission will support the newly installed Commissioner towards execution of his mandate.

She further wished Omwanza all the best in his work and asked him to uphold the rule of justice.

“Let the oath continue to guide you in your daily work. It should never depart from you. Be able to defend the rule of law. I wish all the best in your work and God bless you,” Koome said.

“We are happy to welcome you to the family. We will work for the good of the people of the country,” Koome said.

She added: “I look forward to your energy and passion to make access to justice. Today you join other commissioners of JSC.”

While acknowledging the big responsibility ahead of him,  Omwanza promised that he would live up to the oath’s specifics.

Omwanza also expressed his gratitude to all who supported him by recognising the presence of Solicitor General Shadrack Mose, lawyers and his family.

Also present were a team of lawyers led by Danstan Omari, South Mugirango MP Silvanus Osoro and Commissioner Isaac Ruto.

Omwanza also thanked members of LSK saying they are very passionate about their welfare that’s why they are here in numbers.

“I can assure you that these members are here with goodwill,” Omwanza said.

“I promise to make sure that I serve Kenyans, JSC and LSK with diligence,” he said.

Omwanza is the new LSK male representative to the commission replacing Macharia Njeru.

He will hold the position for five years.

Omwanza was elected as the new commission after the LSK election conducted on February 29.

During the LSK polls, Omwanza defeated former society’s president Eric Theuri garnering 3,357 votes who got 3,292 votes.
