Delaying Justice: The Case of Atur Tigranyan

The investigating officer in charge of controversial businessman Atur Tigranyan has pleaded with the court for more time to complete gathering more information before the commencement of the hearing.

Through the state prosecutor, Ann Munyua the officer told the Milimani senior principal magistrate Martha Nanzushi that the officer was gathering more crucial facts against the businessman before the start of the hearing,

“Your honor the officer is pleading with this court to give him two months before the start of the hearing since the investigation against him is yet to be concluded,” she said.

Atur who claims to be the CEO of JamboBet and Vbet was charged in November last year with stealing charges contrary to the law.

The controversial businessman was charged that on diverse dates between May 2 and August 2, 2023, at an unknown place within the country jointly with others not before the court conspired to defraud shares from Artak Haryutunyan and 250 shares from Tigran Arzumanyan.

He was also faced with two counts of forging transfer deeds concerning transferring the said shares separately from Urartu Holdings Limited to Hope June Okumu purporting to have been signed and stamped by the advocate Paul Minishi which was a false fact.

He was further charged with two counts of stealing 500 shares from Artak and 250 shares from Tigran which is against the law.

According to the court documents, Atur jointly with others who were not in court at Registrar of Companies within Nairobi county was charged with stealing a total of 750 shares.

The said shares were the properties of Ceiling Limited and Urartu Holdings Limited all valued at Sh 75,000.

In giving direction on the matter, Ms Nanzushi considered the prayers of the lead investigator to the matter and adjourned the matter for two months,

“I have considered the prayers sought by the investigating officer to give him two months to conclude the investigation before the hearing commences,” said the magistrate.

The matter was scheduled for mention and further directions on June 4, 2024.
