Fraudulent Transactions: Nairobi Businessman Faces Charges in Court

A city businessman has been charged at a Nairobi court for receiving Sh 8 million fraudulently.

The state prosecutor told the court that on March 15, 2023, within the Lavington area in Dagorreti sub-county, Nairobi county Martin Munene Njenga in collaboration with others who were not before the court engaged in the fraud scheme intending to defraud.

The court heard that Munene allegedly secured Sh 8 million from Agnes Wairimu by falsely pretending that he was capable of importing a Range Rover Mortor vehicle which was a false fact.

He appeared before the Milimani chief magistrate Lucas Onyina and denied the charges.

The defense lawyer pleaded with the court to release him on lenient cash bail or bond terms stating that it was his right,

“Your honor I plead with this honorable court to release my client on bond or cash bail since it is his right as per the constitution,” he pleaded.

The prosecution did not oppose the plea for his release on bond.

The magistrate released him on a cash bail of Sh 100,000 with one contact person and scheduled the matter for mention in two weeks.
