Nairobi Man Denies Robbery Charges, Faces Trial for Possession of Military Gear

A man who is suspected to be robbing Nairobi citizens has been charged at Milimani law court with having government stores.

The middle-aged suspect was arrested on May 21, 2024, at Machakos Country Bus terminus within Nairobi county having ammunition contrary to the Firearm Act of the laws of Kenya.

The prosecution told the court that Eugene Ouma was found in possession of one 9mm caliber ammunition without a firearm certificate.

The accused was also in possession of the imitation firearm (homemade) in circumstances that indicated that he was armed to commit a robbery act.

Ouma was also found in possession of two military jungle uniforms, two military belts, a pair of high-ankle military boots, and a military jungle hut of the Kenya Defence Forces such properties being reasonably suspected of having been stolen or unlawfully obtained.

The court further heard that at Block E- 1 Apartments room no. 206 in the Pipeline area within Nairobi county, he was found with a paramilitary uniform of the National Youth Service (NYS) such properties being suspected to have been stolen or unlawfully obtained.

He appeared before the Milimani senior principal magistrate Robinson Ondieki and denied the charges leveled against him.

The matter was scheduled for mention and directions on June 6, 2024.
