The Judiciary and the Judicial Service Commission has sent their condolences to the family, colleagues and the entire Judiciary fraternity following the passing on of Justice David Majanja.
Majanja passed away on Wednesday at Nairobi hospital where he was admitted on Monday where he was scheduled for surgery.
After the successful surgery, he was moved to the Intensive Care Unit to recuperate but unfortunately, he did not make it.
Led by their president and the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Kenya Martha Koome, they shed their condolences praising the Judge for his wisdom and commitment he proved to the Judiciary in his service.
“Majanja was first appointed to the High Court in 2011 and he served as a judge in several court stations including to the Constitutional and Human Rights Division in Homabay, Migori, Kisumu, Kisii and the Commercial and Tax Division.”
During the time of his passing, he was serving at the Milimani High Court Division.
Additionally, he was elected as the commissioner of the JSC representing the Kenya Magistrates and Judges Association in May 2019 where he was re-elected on the same position in May this year after completing the first term of five years.
He served on the Human Resource Management Committee of the JSC and was a member of the Audit, Governance and Risk Management Committee and the Learning and Development Committee.
Justice Majanja held a Master in Laws (LLM) degree from the University of Pretoria and a Bachelor of Law from the University of Nairobi.
He was admitted to the bar in 1998 and had a successful career as a private practitioner before joining the Judiciary as a Judge.
He was mentioned as a devoted servant to the country and he has left the irreplaceable void.
Funeral arrangements have commenced.
