A 20 year-old-woman has been detained by a Makadara court for 14 days to pave the way for investigators to conclude Investigations on the alleged murder of her husband.
Coprol Charles Ombogo who is attached to DCI Kasarani pleaded with the Makadara principal magistrate Mary Njagi to give him the days sought to investigate the matter.
Hegrah Bonareri Wanjiku, a mother of one is suspected of having murdered her husband Patrick Mwaniki Njagi an offence that took place at Zimmerman, Ngamate Apartment on August 24, 2024.
Ombogo told the court that the matter was reported by Sosepeter Gaitho at Kasarani Police Station via OB54/24/08/24 that there was a man who had been stabbed to death in the said apartment where they rushed and arrested the suspect.
In convincing the court to give the time sought, Ombogo said he wanted to take the suspect to Mathari Mental Hospital for psychiatric test,
“Your honor the suspect need to be taken to Mathari Mental Hospital for psychiatric test and plan for autopsy of the deceased to determine the cause of death,” he told the court.
He also said that the blood samples collected from the scene of the crime together with more samples yet to be taken from the deceased need to be taken to the Government Chemist for DNA analysis.
He further said that he needed to compile the evidence before forwarding the police file to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution for perusal and advice.
The deceased who was a mobile phone technician in Nairobi CBD is said to have engaged in domestic violence with her wife before he was fatally stabbed in the chest.
The magistrate considered the application by the Investigating officer citing that the offence was very serious noting that a human life was lost,
“This court has admitted the application by the officer considering the magnitude of the offence noting that a life was lost. I hereby admit the plea of detention for 14 days,” ruled the magistrate.
Bonareri will be detained at Kasarani Police Station for 14 days and will be mentioned on September 10, for further directions.
