Two Convicted for Stealing KSh 8.8 Million Mercedes-Benz in Kilimani
The duo, Miriam Adhiambo Amboka and Timothy Omwande Were, were charged in 2021 with two counts of stealing a motor vehicle and entering a dwelling place with intentions to commit a felony.
Two accused persons have been convicted by a Nairobi court of the offence of stealing a motor vehicle valued at KSh 8.8 million.
In the judgment that was delivered by the Milimani Chief Magistrate, Dolphina Alego, on Wednesday, she said that the prosecution had proved their case, and a prima facie case against the duo was established.
“The prosecution has proved its case beyond a reasonable doubt and established a prima facie case against the two. I hereby convict the first and second accused persons of the offences of stealing and entering a dwelling place with intentions to commit a felony,” the magistrate stated.
The duo, Miriam Adhiambo Amboka and Timothy Omwande Were, were charged in 2021 with two counts of stealing a motor vehicle and entering a dwelling place with intentions to commit a felony.
In the first count, they were charged that on November 23, 2021, at Cunningham estate in Kilimani, within Nairobi County, jointly with others, not before the court, a Mercedes-Benz GLC 220D black in colour, registration KDC 141 L, valued at 8.8 million, the property of Dr Thambaiya Carnjini Yogeswaran.
Separately, Omwande was charged with entering a dwelling place with the intention to commit a felony. He entered the Cunningham estate and entered the house of the complainant.
The Magistrate directed the two to be detained in custody until May 5, 2026, for a pre-sentencing report to be produced and mitigation.
