Aviation Firm Employee Denies Stealing Helicopter Blade Valued at Over KSh 6.7M

Rotorjet Aviation Company Limited has been charged at a Nairobi court with the offence of stealing by a servant contrary to the law.
Patrick Mwangi Mugo appeared before the Milimani Principal Magistrate Daisy Mutai and denied the charge of stealing one tail Rotor Blade, serial number 20206, a spare part for a Helicopter registration number 5Y-PSH, valued at EUR 45,959.55, which came into his possession by virtue of his employment.
The court heard that on diverse dates between March 4 and 12, 2026, at Rotorjet Company Limited near Wilson Airport, within Nairobi County, jointly with others who were not before the court, being the employee of the said company, committed the offence.
In the second count, Mugo was charged with handling stolen property contrary to Section 322(1) of the Penal Code.
The court heard that, during the aforementioned period, at Headquarters Inn Building in Langata Road within Nairobi County, otherwise than the course of stealing, dishonestly undertook the retention of the said spare part while knowing or having reason to believe it to be stolen property.
He denied the charges and requested lenient bond terms, citing that he was still the employee of the said company,
“Your Honour, I request lenient bond and bail terms since the spare part I am alleged to have stolen is still in the company’s workshop,” he pleaded.
The prosecution did not oppose the application by the accused but urged the court to grant reasonable terms.
He was released on a bond of Ksh 400,000 and a surety of a similar amount, or alternative cash bail of Ksh 150,000, with one contact person.
The matter will be mentioned on September 8, 2026, for pre-trial.
