A woman has been charged at a Nairobi court for obtaining Ksh 1.6 million by pretending to be in a position to incorporate a businessman in a construction project.
Tabitha Munee Mutua appeared before the Milimani Chief Magistrate and denied the charges leveled against her by the prosecution.
The prosecution told the court that on diverse dates between November 15 and 18, 2024, at Nairobi Central Business District, with others who were not before the court, with the intent to defraud, obtained Ksh 1,674,000 from Moses Kiplagat Toroitich.
The court heard that the accused pretended to be in a position to incorporate Toroitich in a road construction awarded by KeRRA Makueni region to her company, Thomas Construction Limited, which was a false fact.
In the second count, she was accused of conspiring to defraud the said money by pretence of the property of Moses Kiplagat Toroitich.
