Woman Charged with Stealing KSh 1.6M House Rent Released on Bond
She pleaded with the court to be released on lenient bond terms, citing that she is not employed and relies on family for support.
The Nairobi court has released a woman charged with stealing house rent amounting to KSh 1.6 million on bond.
Milimani Principal Magistrate Geoffrey Onsarigo released Carolyne Kalekye Ndambuki on bond of KSh 500,000 with a surety of the same amount after denying the charge levelled against her.
“A plea of not guilty has been entered, and I hereby release the accused person on bond of KSh 500,000 with one surety of the same amount or alternative cash bail of KSh 300,000 with one contact person,” the Magistrate ruled.
The prosecution informed the court that on various dates between October 1, 2024, and June 12, 2025, at Unique Supplies Limited in the Kariokor area of Nairobi County, with others not present before the court, they stole receivable rents amounting to KSh 1,663,550, the property of Faalsha Holdings Limited.
The court heard that the accused was an employee of the company in question, whereby the money in question came into her possession as a result of her employment.
She pleaded with the court to be released on lenient bond terms, citing that she is not employed and relies on family for support.
She was granted a bond of KSh 500,000 with a surety of the same amount.
