Court Orders Treatment for Suspect in Ksh 150M Westlands Land Fraud Case

"Your honour, I was not aware of this case since I had been communicating with my lawyer and he had been telling me that all was well. I have been seeking medication at Rhodes and Mama Lucy Hospitals, and I will produce the documents as proof," he told the court.

The Nairobi court has ordered a suspect alleged to have conspired to defraud a Ksh 150 million land in Westlands to be taken to Mbagathi Hospital for treatment before pleading to the charges.
Milimani Principal Magistrate Geoffrey Onsarigo offered the suspect, John Kigomo Mwaura, to be taken to Mbagathi Hospital for treatment before pleading to the charges.
Mwaura appeared in court under a warrant of arrest issued following his failure to appear in court and subsequent hiding.
The officer investigating the matter told the court that the suspect was arrested in Utawala by the DCI officers after months of tracing him to no avail.
When he took the dock,Mwaura pleaded with the court to take him for treatment since he was sick,

The prosecution did not oppose the application for him to be escorted by the Officer Investigating the matter for treatment.
Mwaura and his co-accused, Abdisalan Adan Hussein, had been in hiding for months in an attempt to escape facing charges of conspiracy to defraud, forgery, uttering forged documents, making documents without authority, and obtaining land registration by pretence.
Hussein is yet to be arrested and he is still hiding.
The said land measuring approximately 0.1178 hectares valued at Ksh 150 million, is located in the Westland area in Nairobi, within Nairobi county, is the property of Sabahatt Shokatali Habib and Sadaff Shokatali Habib.
The plea-taking was adjourned to Monday, May 18, 2026.
