Deaf Convict Shot While Burgling MP Karauri’s Home Begs Court for Mercy
"I am experiencing a lot of pain in the leg as a result of the gunshot wound. Though I was caught escaping with the items, I am pleading for mercy," he told the court.
A street boy and a convict who was shot in the leg while stealing from the resident of Kasarani Member of Parliament Captain Ronald Karauri has pleaded with the court for mercy due to the pain of the gunshot wound.
Appearing before the Milimani Principal Magistrate Paul Mutai, Jeremy Kamau, who is deaf, through the sign language interpreter, requested the court to be lenient on sentencing him, saying he is going through a lot of pain from the wound.
“I am experiencing a lot of pain in the leg as a result of the gunshot wound. Though I was caught escaping with the items, I am pleading for mercy,” he told the court.
Kamau was convicted by the same court after he admitted to unlawfully accessing the home of the said MP and trying to escape with a laptop and two cans of energy drink valued at Ksh 100,500.
The magistrate postponed the sentencing until June 17, 2026, as he waited for the probation report from the Investigating Officer.
He was charged with burglary and stealing one laptop, Apple MacBook valued at Ksh 100,000, one can of energy drink and a can of Heing beans valued at Ksh 500, the property of the said MP.
