Nairobi Businessman Charged with Ksh 453,000 Overseas Job Scam

Daniel Mbithi Kyalo appeared before the Milimani Chief Magistrate, Dolphina Alego, and denied the charges that were leveled against him by the prosecution.

A businessman has been charged at a Nairobi court with obtaining Ksh 453,000 from job seekers by pretence that he would facilitate overseas jobs.

Daniel Mbithi Kyalo appeared before the Milimani Chief Magistrate, Dolphina Alego, and denied the charges that were leveled against him by the prosecution.

The court heard that, on diverse datesbetween July 1 and September 24, 2025, at Norwich House, along Kimathi Street, within Nairobi City County, with intent to defraud, obtained the said money from Christine Jelagat Sitienei.

The prosecution told the court that Kyalo pretended to be in a position to assist her in securing a warehouse operative job in Denmark for her son, Vincent Kipkemboi Birgen, which was a false statement.

In the second count, the accused obtained Ksh 200,000 from Winnie Jepchirchir by pretending to be in a position to assist her brother secure a warehouse operative job in Denmark.

He denied the two counts of obtaining money by pretence.

The Magistrate released him on a bond of Ksh 500,000, with a surety of the same amount, or on alternative cash bail of Ksh 200,000, with two contact persons.

The matter will be mentioned on January 22, 2026, for pre-trial and directions.
