Duo Officers to Face Murder Charges

The post-mortem was conducted on the same day and revealed that the deceased died of the head injuries that were caused by a single gunshot that penetrated the head.

The Internal Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has concluded its investigations against two police officers alleged to have killed a 20-year-old man three weeks ago.
Submitting before the Milimani Principal Magistrate Caroline Nyaguthii, IPOA lawyer Kevin Lusweti told the court that they had concluded their investigations and forwarded the file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), where they proposed that the two officers be charged with murder.
“Your honour, we have concluded our investigations and forwarded the file to the ODPP for further instructions, where we have proposed the duo to be charged with murder,” Lusweti told the Magistrate.
However, the respondents, Sergeant Edwin Mjomba and Administration Police Constable (APC) Patrick Mutunga, did not plead to the charges since they were supposed to be before the Makadara High Court before Justice Kiage, who is on leave.
The court was informed that due to the aforementioned reason, the duo will take plea before a Milimani High Court Judge, Justice Mulwa on Friday, 30, 2026.
“The matter will be mentioned tomorrow for the purpose of closing the miscellaneous file and confirming whether the suspects will plead to the offence,” the magistrate directed.
The officers are alleged to have fatally shot Shukri Adan Ibrahim Issaka on January 11, 2026, at around 0610 hours near the MCC area within Villa Police Station. They were arrested and placed in custody at Capitol Hill on the same day vide OB No. 30/11/03/2026.
The post-mortem was conducted on the same day and revealed that the deceased died of the head injuries that were caused by a single gunshot that penetrated the head.
