MCA Among Four Charged in MP’s Staged Abduction
According to the court's documents, the Office of Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) had suggested Koimburi to be charged with four counts related to land fraud through a letter dated May 25, 2025.
A Kanyenyaini Member of County Assembly (MCA) is among the four people who has been charged at a Milimani court with stage managing the abduction of Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi Ndung’u in May this year.
Grace Nduta Wairimu a Kanyenyaini MCA, Peter Kiratu Muhia, David Gatana and Cyrus Kieru appeared before the magistrate and were charged with conspiracy to defeat justice.
The prosecution told the court that on May 25, 2025, at Mugutha area in Juja sub-county within Kiambu county with common intention jointly conspired to defeat justice by stage managing the abduction of Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi Ndung’u in order to prevent his arrest and arraignment in Kiambu law courts to answer to the charges of fraud.
According to the court’s documents, the Office of Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) had suggested Koimburi to be charged with four counts related to land fraud through a letter dated May 25, 2025.
Separately, Kiratu was charged with giving false information to a person employed in public service contrary to the law.
At Mugutha Police Station in Juja sub-county he reported to Nelly Kabuu a police officer employed in the public service that George Koimburi Ndung’u, a Member of Parliament in Juja had been inducted by unknown people wearing face masks after attending a church service at Full Gospel Church, Mugutha making the said police officer to book the report which information he knew to be false.
They appeared before the Milimani senior principal magistrate Benmark Ekhubi and denied the charges.
Their defence lawyers played the court to release them on lenient bond terms citing that they are not flight risk and they had been complying with investigators,
“Your honor the accused had been attending to the investigators as required hence I plead with the court to release them with similar terms they were granted earlier by this court in the miscellaneous,” the defence pleaded.
The prosecution did not oppose their release on bond.
However, the court issued a warrant of arrest to George Koimburi and two others for failing to appear in court to take plea,
“A warrant of arrest against first, sixth and seventh accused persons has been issued,” the magistrate ruled.
Koimburi, Njuguna alias Njugush and Peter failed to appear in court to face charges.
In giving directions, the magistrate released the four on cash bail of Ksh 300,000 with three contact persons each who would be examined by court.
The matter will be mentioned on August 8, 2025, for pre-trial and directions.
