Man charged with stealing Ksh 10 million worth of soap from wholesaler

A man has been charged at a Nairobi court with stealing goods worth Ksh 10 million.
Ahmed Dawe Dime appeared before the Milimani Principal Magistrate Paul Mutai, where he denied the charges of stealing and handling stolen property.
The prosecution told the court that on diverse dates between December 24, 2025, and May 16, 2026, at Moyale Wholesalers Limited Stores along North Airport Road in Embakasi Sub-county, in Nairobi County, jointly with others not before the court stole 7,700 cartons of Gil oil bar soap valued at Ksh 10.2 million, the property of Hussein Hirbo Galcha.
In the second count, Dime was charged with handling stolen goods contrary to Section 322(1)(2) as read with Section 3 of the Penal Code.
The court heard that, on May 18, 2026, at Moyale Trading Center in Moyale County, in the course of stealing dishonestly received and retained 424 cartons of Gil oil bar soap, knowing or having reason to believe them to be stolen goods.
He denied the charges and pleaded with the court for lenient bond terms.
The court granted him a bond of 1 million and alternative cash bail of Ksh 400,000.
The case will be mentioned on September 17 for pre-trial.
