Court Arraigns Man for Obtaining Ksh 2.5M on False Police Recruitment Promise

He denied the charge and, through his lawyer, Shadrack Wambui, applied for lenient bond terms.

A man has been charged in a Nairobi court with obtaining Ksh 2.5 million by pretence to help seven individuals join the National Police Service.

James Chesimani Masengeli appeared before the Milimani Chief Magistrate, Dolphina Alego, facing the charge of obtaining money by false pretence.

The prosecution notified the court that, on diverse dates between November 18 and 23, 2025, at an unknown place within the Republic of Kenya, with intent to defraud, obtained from Ali Khalif Muhumud Ksh 2,588,000.

The court heard that he pretended to be in a position to secure seven job opportunities for employment in the National Police Service, which was a false statement.

He denied the charge and, through his lawyer, Shadrack Wambui, applied for lenient bond terms.

The magistrate released the accused on bond of Ksh 1 million with alternative cash bail of Ksh 500,000.
