Lawyer Shadrack Wambui Vindicated by DCI in Rongai Demonstrations Probe
He said that they intended to light candles at the said bank main entrance in memory of Kennedy Onyango, who was fatally shot last year on June 25 during Gen-Z's demonstrations.
The aspiring Kajiado North Member of Parliament, lawyer Shadrack Wambui, has recorded a statement with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations DCI Ongata Rongai and cleared him without any condition.
Escorted by a team of lawyers led by Danstan Omari, Samson Nyamberi, Omayio Arang’a and Cliff Ombeta, Wambui recorded a statement regarding the demonstrations that took place at Rongai on June 25, 2025, which led to the destruction of properties.
The lawyer who advocates the rights of the less fortunate citizens under Sheria Mtaani participated in a peaceful demonstration, which was allowed by the OCS at the station and was given security officers to accompany his team during the procession.
“The team started the march at Masai Lodge peacefully being guarded by police officers and the OCS has admitted the same. While reaching at National Bank the goons who were not part of the march invaded with attacks targeting Wambui,” Omari said.
He said that they intended to light candles at the said bank main entrance in memory of Kennedy Onyango, who was fatally shot last year on June 25 during Gen-Z’s demonstrations.
The lawyer stated that the mother of Onyango had previously called him to help her seek justice for her late son, since she had tried to reach Ngogoyo to act on her behalf for justice to no avail.
“The mother of Onyango had called me prior to the procession to champion for her rights to get justice since the area member of Parliament has been unresponsive to her pleas,” Wambui said.
He also said that their intentions were curtailed by the goons who waited for them at the National Bank, where the offices of the Area Member of Parliament are domiciled, and attacked the convoy targeting Wambui.
The goons inflated the peaceful demos by snatching by robbing demonstrators, and started vandalizing properties, causing mayhem. Wambui and his team escaped for their lives, leaving the goons terrorizing and causing destruction to properties.
He terms the actions as politically motivated and planned by Onesmus Ngogoyo, the area member of Parliament, to tarnish his name as a criminal and demean his ambitions to unseat the MP in 2027.
Ombeta urged the DCI to summon Ngogoyo and the goons who were captured on camera and were not part of the demos to record their statements for justice to prevail.
“We want the MP to be summoned and those captured on camera to record statements since he had prior released a statement that he would not allow any demonstrations to happen there,” Ombeta said.
Wambui insisted that the area MP knew very well where they were going to light candles and surrender their petition so that they could be heard, but some people were sent to harm him and his group, who attacked them.
